PATHvision System Upgrade

SOLUTION

The Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) is a rapid transit railroad linking Manhattan, New York with New Jersey, and providing service to Jersey City, Hoboken, Harrison, and Newark. It is operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. PATH trains use tunnels only in Manhattan, Hoboken and downtown Jersey City.The scope of work for this project included system upgrade and total replacement of all existing overhead and floor mounted kiosk display screens with new energy efficient LCD screens that provide real-time passenger information at all New York and New Jersey PATH Train Stations.

PATH operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and during normal hours operates four train services, using three terminals in New Jersey and two in Manhattan. Within this highly visible and active city environment one of the many challenges WFC faced was to provide high quality design professional services to our client that would assist with implementing the new system without interrupting the day to day operations of the facility and seamlessly integrate the new equipment into the existing environment.

WFC provided detailed surveying of the existing areas of work for preparation of existing conditions drawings that were then used to create design and construction drawings for pricing and construction. Other responsibilities included, reviewing the adequacy of the existing electrical and distribution system and coordinating LCD screen placement and mounting design.
