SOLUTION

As the director of a major Life Safety initiative for Verizon, William F. Collins, AIA Architects, LLP managed a multi-million dollar program covering 43 high-rise buildings. New York City instituted Local Law # 5 (LL5) – Fire and Life Safety initiative decades ago to promote Fire/Life Safety within those high-rise buildings, which had not been equipped with fire suppression (sprinkler) systems. The law set forth a minimum requirement which required specific concentration on life safety including: Compartmentation; Fireman’s Emergency Elevator Recall; Stair Pressurization; Egress Signage; Fail-Safe Locking; and Smoke Sensing/Fire Alarm Systems.

WFC has assumed the leadership role on behalf of Verizon, and has managed all the various components involved in implementation, ensuring that the end product was cohesive and consistent throughout the various regions.
