Mock Apartment Building

SOLUTION

A prominent Technology company had to convey to any potential property owner, the impact of a new high-tech communications backbone when deployed in a new or existing NYC apartment building. This prospective property owner would need to fully understand the physical requirements, equipment and impact of installing the technology throughout the building.

WFC designed a mock two story apartment building within the confines of an existing building located in lower Manhattan, similar to the Las Vegas theme hotels which create lifelike city re-creations within their hotel designed envelope. The design included among other programming elements, a 2 story lobby entrance, restrooms, a new elevator for ADA access to the 2nd floor apartment. The first floor contained the equipment room that would be required to display the type of equipment needed to service a multi-story apartment building.

The second floor is where the functional apartment was located, containing a kitchen , living area, home office desk area, bedroom and working bathroom. The rationale for going to such lengths to simulate an actual apartment unit was to demonstrate the full functionality of the technology and all future capabilities within a realistic sensory experience. Considering the ever growing impact of our lives being linked to the internet, WFC felt it was important to include all rooms in which internet / tv access was possible. (ie; kitchen & refrigerator, Living Room TV; Home Office Laptop; as well as possible devices in the bedroom and bathroom.
