SOLUTION
The first phase of the Deer Park Public Library Exterior Rehabilitation focused on creating a public entrance plaza, window replacement and other site improvements.The existing Library entrance was a crowded and unwelcoming space. The new plaza is an accessible space that features built-in stone reading benches, a gathering space with new lighting and new irrigated raised planters.
It was designed to embody the idea that a library is more than a repository of books and computers. It is a space that should reflect and engage the community’s imagination and create serendipitous opportunities; whether it became a pleasant place for people to hold a conversation, eat their lunch or simply read a book.
