WFC was selected by National Grid, the electrical service provider to the Long Island Power Authority, to provide design services for three Solar Energy projects at various locations in their New York City / Long Island footprint as well as for the evaluation of six other candidates for similar installations. The systems were located at their Hicksville, Melville and Staten Island Facilities, ranging in size up to a 50 kW.
WFC was charged with integrating all components into the existing buildings. The roof structure was analyzed and reinforcing measures, if needed, were designed. Appropriate roofing details were prepared for the roof assemblies that varied from EPDM, to Modified Bitumen, to a ballasted IRMA type. Finally, the electrical infrastructure was evaluated and modification designs prepared to receive the electricity from the Solar Energy System.
